Release of Pilot Survey of PCTs (2 July 2009)
We have now completed a pilot survey of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in England. Many of the PCTs failed to answer questions, despite the requests being made under the Freedom of Information Act.
However, the results indicate that very few of those PCTs which have decided not to provide homeopathy routinely actually have any information about whether those making the decision know anything about homeopathy. If this is generally the case, then it suggests that there is a widespread lack of competence in managing the decision-making process, which is unacceptable in organisations representing the public interest.
